MGB Costello V8
(times followed: 145)
Good afternoon from London, UK. I am trying to contact anyone in your MG club who might own (or used to own) an MGB Costello V8. These are the cars converted to V8 power by Ken Costello in the UK from 1970 to about 1974 (although more were done in the early 1990s), which gave British Leyland the urge to develop their own factory version - the MGBV8. The Costellos are rare beasts these days with only about 225 converted in those earlier years. As a Costello Roadster owner here in the UK, I manage a website (as a hobby) which attempts to unite all the current Costello-converted cars, allows owners to share ideas, stories, photographs, articles and so on. If you have any Costello owners in your club I'd very much like to hear from them - it would be great to add more of these rare cars to our list, especially from North America. It's all completely free, and copyright is atributed to the owner for any photos or text they submit. Take a look - http://www.mgcostello.com and drop me a line. Kind regards Lawrence Wood.

Advance Auto Wire
(times followed: 1121)
Up until now, the MGB or Triumph owner has had only two options for improving the electrical systems in their cars: buy an OEM replacement or one of the many after market wiring systems designed for street rods or custom cars. An OEM replacement only solves some of your problems, but doesn't solve any of the original design deficiencies. You're still stuck with poor lighting, slow wipers, and sluggish heater fans caused by voltage drops through the old, worn out switches ............

MGB Parts & Accessories
Bits4Brits
(times followed: 222)
Here we hope you will find useful parts to help your British car work better and last longer. Most of the kits are designed to fit the popular MGB sports cars but with little, or no, modification some will fit other British cars from the same era as the MGB-roughly 1963 to 1980. All kits are built to-order so typically delivery will be two to seven days after you place your order.
Our electrical kits are built using the correct color wiring for the car. Since most British cars of that time used Lucas wiring, the wire coloring and purpose is pretty universal-this means fitting the kits to other cars is often made easier.
We have designed the electrical kits to be as "plug-and-play" as possible-meaning they are easy to install using existing connectors where possible. This means the kits typically require minimal knowledge of electrical systems, and only basic tools.
Mechanical kits include correct size fasteners, typically of stainless steel, and are designed to make repairs easier. Some kits modify the methods used to attach parts in the vehicle but do not detract from the vehicle's structural integrity. Other parts simply replace or upgrade existing parts.

Paltech Micro-Polishing: SU and Zenith Stromberg Carb Rebuilds
(times followed: 127)
The cost to rebuild, restore & bench test most pairs of SU & ZS carbs is $425.00 which includes fully insured UPS ground return shipping in the continental US. Call or email for pricing. The Micro-polishing process was developed by myself in order to restore antique auto parts to their original condition. The Micro-polishing process does not remove any of the parts material; it merely removes the metal oxide layer. The Micro-polishing process will polish parts inside & outside and will also polish down & into engraving, stampings, casting marks etc. to keep the part as originally manufactured. The process seals the micro pores in the material to provide a long lasting finish. The process finish will outlast typical bead blasting restoration finishes by at least ten times in similar environments. The Micro-polishing process entails a trade secret mechanical motion using custom made equipment & custom formulated media that are not available on the market. There are no chemicals used in the process. Currently the equipment can process parts up to 25 pounds and 36 inches in length.

Degreeing a Cam The Easy Way - Documented Procedure by Crane Camshafts
(times followed: 15)
Talk to any cam grinder, engine builder, or racer and you’ll find overwhelming agreement that “degreeing-in” a camshaft is a vital step along the route to optimum engine performance. At first that may seem strange because “degreeing-in” a cam pertains to checking the accuracy with which it was manufactured.
Actually, by degreeing-in a camshaft, you’re insuring that valve opening and closing events are in accordance with specifications, regardless of the cause. Actual valve opening and closing events are influenced not only by accuracy with which a cam was ground, but also timing chain stretch, keyway position in the crankshaft, crank timing sprocket, and dowel pin hole position in the cam sprocket also play a major role.

Improving the Drivability of the Overdrive Equipped MGB - MG Club of St. Louis Tech Tip
(times followed: 1843)
I wanted to increase the "drivability" of the car by having the overdrive drop out at stop signs. The solution I arrived at is a device called "toggle flip-flop". I tried to keep it as simple and reliable as possible, so it is implemented with four relays and a resistor (resistor value is approximately twice the relay coil resistance). I used relays from a Dodge Stratus because of their relatively small size, but almost any single-pole double throw (SPDT) relay can be used.

Replacing the Fuel Tank Sending Unit - MG Club of St. Louis Tech Tip
(times followed: 931)
Getting my 72 MGB operational again I have had the opportunity to tackle several jobs I have never thought of before, or that I have any experience in tackling. The fuel tank sending unit was one such job and so I thought I’d share my findings on how to fix this. No big secret for many perhaps, but, if you’ve never had to deal with this, it’s not nearly as bad as I (or you) might have thought. This took about 30 mins for me including taking a few pictures at each step.

The S.U. carburettor is one of the simplest carburettors ever invented! Unfortunately, following discussions with many people, the operational principles of this carburettor appear to be poorly understood. SU carburetors have a minimal number of moving parts and are easy to tune, providing of course you understand the operational principles! It is the intention of this article to help clarify those principles in the hopes that many owners will be able to tune and maintain their SU carburtetors aided by better knowledge and less blind experimentation.

Zenith Stromberg Water Choke
(times followed: 693)
When a recent Midget project ran poorly after an engine rebuild due to an over rich mixture, I decided it was finally time to find out what makes the water choke mechanism so mysterious and widely despised by many owners of later model MGs. I scoured the MG archives (http://www.mgcars.org.uk), got my manuals together and ripped into it. After studying for a short time, I thought some pictures would help and grabbed my digital camera. By the time I was done, I had a pile of pictures and notes, an
